BAE sells Typhoon and Hawk to Oman

BAE Systems today announced the sale of 12 Typhoon and eight Hawk Advanced Jet Trainer (AJT) aircraft to Oman. The deal is worth 2,5 billion Pounds.

As well as supplying aircraft, the company will provide in-service support to the Royal Air Force of Oman's (RAFO) operational tasks. Deliveries are expected to commence in 2017.

Oman becomes the seventh country in the world, and the second in the Middle East, to operate the Typhoon, joining the air forces of the United Kingdom, Germany, Italy, Spain, Austria and Saudi Arabia.

This order of Hawk AJT's follows an order from the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia in May of this year. This order takes the total number of Hawk aircraft sold, or on order, to 998.

Meanwhile, BAE Systems continues discussions with the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia Government to agree definitive pricing for the supply of 72 Typhoon aircraft to the Royal Saudi Air Force (RSAF) contracted in 2007 under the government to government Salam programme.

BAE Systems, as the prime contractor to the UK Government, has delivered 24 Typhoon aircraft to date. All parties remain committed to the programme and further aircraft are in-build for deliveries to recommence in 2013, BAE Systems says.
