Diehl Defence shows new Laser-Guided Sidewinder at ILA

At ILA in Berlin Diehl Defence will showcase advanced guided missile solutions for air forces and navies as well as a model of the IRIS-T SLM ground-based air defence system.

For the first time, Diehl Defence will be exhibiting a model of its new Laser-Guided Sidewinder (LaGS) missile, currently under development, and designed for air-to-surface missions of combat aircraft. Both LaGS and the planned new PILUM glide missile could contribute effectively to the multi-role capability of the Eurofighter combat aircraft, the company hopes.

Further highlights in the presentation will include laser-based self-protection technology for military aircraft capable of countering guided missile attacks, modern flares, the CAMCOPTER tactical reconnaissance system and the Flight Profile Recorder (FPR) Air Combat Training System for fighter aircraft.

According to Diehl Defence, the ILA Berlin Air Show “serves as the most important forum in Germany to present defence technology expertise to political decision-makers and legislators as well as public and military customers”.
