airberlin inaugural flight from Berlin to Miami
From today airberlin will be connecting the German capital and Miami. The inaugural flight AB 7210 took off after a ceremonial goodbye.
“With these new direct flights airberlin is strengthening its position as a major carrier at the airport Berlin-Tegel. airberlin’s second direct service between Berlin and the United States will begin in summer 2011 with flights to New York. This allows airberlin to create a solid base in Berlin with a view to the airline’s membership of the oneworld alliance, which is planned for 2012," remarked Matthias von Randow, representing airberlin’s Board of Directors.
The new flight to Florida takes off from Berlin-Tegel at 11:00 hours every Monday and Thursday to land at Miami International Airport at 16:45 hours.
With Miami now added as a new destination, airberlin is expanding its long-haul services from Berlin-Tegel this winter to a total of six (Bangkok, Dubai, Miami, Mombasa, Phuket and Punta Cana). From May 2011 airberlin will also be operating four direct flights a week from Berlin to New York’s JFK airport.
