Austrian Airlines introduces LED cabin lighting in Fokker fleet

Austrian Airlines is the first operator of Fokker aircraft that has implemented LED lighting in the cabin.

The LED lighting is a retrofit modification from Fokker Services and is applicable for Fokker as well as other aircraft types. The implementation was realized in the Austrian Airlines maintenance facility in Bratislava, called Austrian Technik Bratislava (ATB) with Fokker Services engineers supporting on-site.

The main advantage of LED lighting is increased passenger appeal and comfort. Besides that more than 80 kilos of previously used light bulbs are removed thereby reducing weight and fuel consumption, resulting in a smaller CO2 footprint.

Finally maintenance cost will significantly reduce as LED lighting requires no maintenance. Frequent replacement of failed or discolored lighting elements, or broken mounting units leading to high maintenance costs, are now of the past.
