Marshall Aerospace delivers first upgraded Austrian C-130K
The Austrian Air Force (AAF) and Bundesministerium Fur Landesverteidigung und Sport (BMLVs, the Government Ministry of Austria) have taken delivery of the first of their C-130K aircraft to receive an avionics upgrade, performed by Marshall Aerospace and Defence Group under a three-aircraft contract which commenced in August 2012.
The avionics upgrade included the replacement of the aircraft’s autopilot and radar altimeter systems, software updates to the flight management system, the installation of a standby flight display and a barometric altimeter as well as the replacement of analogue flight instruments with multifunction LCD displays.
The next aircraft scheduled for the avionics upgrade will arrive at Marshall Aerospace and Defence Group’s site in Cambridge in early September 2013.
Steve Fitz-Gerald, CEO of Marshall Aerospace and Defence Group, comments: “We’re delighted to have completed the avionics upgrade and associated testing and commissioning on this first aircraft as it places us on track to have all three aircraft upgraded and returned to service by early 2015.”
