UTair confirms Eurocopter EC175 order

Russia’s UTair has made two major Eurocopter helicopter acquisition decisions, positioning the company for future growth and further expanding its relationship with Eurocopter.

A firm contract signed by UTair for 15 EC175s was announced at Heli-Expo 2011 during a ceremony on Eurocopter’s exhibit stand, which was held at the full-scale mockup of this new 7-metric-ton twin-engine workhorse helicopter.  UTair will use its EC175s in offshore oil and gas operations, as well as for VIP transportation.

“The EC175 is a unique product that provides an excellent aircraft for both existing and potential new UTair customers worldwide,” said Andrey Martirosov, the General Director of UTair Aviation.  “We look forward to its deliveries beginning in 2013, which will enable UTair to expand globally in more dynamic way.”

Also at Heli-Expo 2011, UTair detailed its decision to convert an order for 20 AS350 B3 helicopters to the new AS350 B3e version, benefitting from this enhanced single-engine rotary-wing aircraft’s improved performance.

The current UTair fleet includes two AS350 B3s, one AS355N and four BO105s in Russia, along with an AS350 B3 operated by its subsidiary in India.
