Eurojet offers EJ200 for Tejas
Eurojet is working on an offer for ist EJ200 to be fitted to the ADA Tejas light fighter as an alternative to the F404 and the indigenous Kaveri engine.
The offer follows intensive cooperation with the Indian Aeronautical Development Agency (ADA), which has issued a Request for Proposal (RFP) to Eurojet. The European company must submit ist response to ADA within 12 weeks. The suitability of the EJ200 for the LCA was confirmed by Eurojet and ADA after having conducted a joint comprehensive feasibility study in 2008.
Eurojet is contracted to produce more than 1,500 EJ200 engines to power a total of 707 Eurofighter Typhoon multi-role combat aircraft ordered by six nations. The fleet of over 550 engines in service with Eurofighter Typhoon fleets operated by the Air Forces of Germany, the United Kingdom, Italy, Spain, Austria and the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia had amassed over 125,000 Engine Flying Hours.
