Nidwalden unveils masterplan for industrial park on RUAG site at Buochs

In the coming years, a theme-based industrial park for the aviation industry and its suppliers is planned at Buochs Airport. Today, the company Nidwalden AirPark AG (NAPAG) established for this purpose unveiled the master plan for the project.

The project's aim is to strengthen Nidwalden as a business location and to ensure the best possible use of the site by companies with a similar mindset.

The site, with an area of around 90,000m², belongs to RUAG Real Estate and offers development potential. In close collaboration with the Canton of Nidwalden, this part of the airport will be turned into a theme-based industrial park.

To implement the project, the real estate development company Nidwalden AirPark AG (NAPAG) was founded in 2010 on the initia-tive of RUAG Real Estate. By offering ideal production conditions for the companies renting the premises, it will be possible to create attractive jobs in the area. "Establishing the industrial park in addition to the existing local industry is a great opportunity to make Nidwalden an even more attractive business location", affirmed Gerhard Odermatt, President of the Cantonal Council and Head of Economic Affairs in the Canton of Nidwalden.

The master plan drawn up by ICME Real Estate includes connecting the industrial site to the runway system at Buochs Airport and creating around 70,000m² of floor space for trade and industry, including the AirPark Tower for catering, training and office premises. The focus will be on the aviation industry and suppliers that are active in the areas of aircraft maintenance and development. The site will accommodate aircraft with a wingspan of up to 30 m.

"Our vision is to work together with our partners to make Nidwalden AirPark an attractive location for the aviation industry and its suppliers. By ensuring a good mix of companies and a requirements-based infrastructure, we will ensure that synergy effects between the com-panies based there can be tapped", explained Hans Rudolf Hauri, Chairman of the Board of Directors of Nidwalden AirPark AG and CEO of RUAG Real Estate AG. The total investment volume of the various investment strategies for the approx. 70,000m² of floor space is around CHF 70-100 million.
